Meet the Founder

Rachel Heller

Founder of Pomegranate Literacy™

Rachel Heller is an international educator and literacy specialist with over 25 years of teaching experience across the United Kingdom and overseas. Throughout her career, she has taught within three internationally recognised curricula—the British National Curriculum, the French Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB Primary Years Programme)—working in mainstream, bilingual and international schools with students from a wide range of linguistic, cultural and educational backgrounds.

Her extensive experience supporting multilingual learners has given her a deep understanding of both the opportunities and challenges involved in learning English as an additional language. Rachel recognised that while many students possess strong knowledge, reasoning skills and academic understanding in their home language, they often require a more structured and responsive approach to transfer those abilities into English.

Inspired by this need, Rachel developed The Pomegranate Literacy Program™—a structured, multisensory literacy programme that accelerates English language development while fostering confident readers, effective communicators and critical thinkers.

Drawing on decades of classroom experience, the programme integrates phonics, reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical thinking within one carefully sequenced curriculum. It is designed to build upon each learner's linguistic and cultural strengths, ensuring that students develop not only English proficiency but also the confidence and independence to thrive across the wider curriculum.

Rachel's vision is to provide schools with practical, high-quality literacy resources that empower multilingual learners to achieve their full academic potential while inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

Rachel believes that literacy is more than learning to read and write—it is the foundation for communication, critical thinking and lifelong learning. Through Pomegranate Literacy™, her mission is to equip multilingual learners with the language, confidence and thinking skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
